Happiness Is A Choice You Make

Happiness is a Choice You Make

If you are not a happy person that is a choice you are making.  You have full control over your life and the decisions that you make.  There are many factors which people measure happiness.  Some people think money is happiness. Unfortunately, most of those people are miserable with what they do daily to make their money.

You might look at people who appear to have everything and you think you want to be like them.  These things may be wealth, possessions or even status.  We tend to forget material things and titles don’t create happiness.  Happiness is a choice that comes from inside you.

There are many people who have wealth and are completely miserable.  They may be lonely, divorced, alcoholics or worse.  Many of them learn too late that happiness comes from within and would gladly trade their wealth to be happy.  These same people may be the ones working jobs they absolutely hate but just have a knack for making money. We all know someone who is good at a job but hate it because it brings them no satisfaction.

Happiness Is Different For Everyone

There are things in life that can make you happy, but not the person next to you. Happiness is different for everyone because everyone is unique. You might find joy and happiness seeking excitement and adrenaline.  That same thrill you get may be pure torture for someone with a fear of heights or other adrenaline activities.

Everyone needs to seek happiness in their own way.  What makes you happy is what you need to discover by trying new things.  Also, remember there is nothing wrong with the things that you find joy in even if it does not make someone else happy.  You may be told you are crazy but that is because what makes you happy is not what makes others happy. It all comes down to self-discovery.

Naturally Happy

It is true some people are naturally happy. This doesn’t mean that you were born to be miserable if you are not a naturally happy person.  Your happiness is influenced by your environment, as well as, how you were raised. No one is meant to be unhappy all the time. Yes, we all experience times of unhappiness and that is a good thing. If we didn’t experience unhappiness, we would never know what happiness is or felt like.

If you are not a naturally happy person you can change the way you think and feel.  The key is to change your behaviors and limit anything that is a constant negative in your life.  These behavior changes will take time, but you can make small changes every day. For example, avoid watching or reading the news in the morning. 90% of it is negative and that is not the best way to begin your day.

Self-Discovery

Self-discovery can be scary because you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, but it is also exciting. Think about all the things you have wanted to do or try but never did because you were afraid. Some of those things could be exactly the things that will bring you happiness. For example, trying new foods. You could discover a joy for cooking and creating new recipes. Another example is nature watching. Nature watching is a great way to learn and get some exercise at the same time. Plus, each time you go you might see something new.

Conclusion

In the end happiness is yours and yours alone. Don’t expect someone else to make you happy, that is not their job. Don’t be envious of what others have, you don’t know if they are happy inside. Make behavior changes daily that make you happy. Try new things and don’t let fear stop you. You are unique and the things that make you happy are yours. So, again your happiness is a choice you make every day.
