So here is an easy step by step guide on how to boost your focus and energy using meditation.

1. Meditation Location

First, it could be anywhere. However, make sure to choose somewhere that is away from noise and distraction. So choose a quiet space. It could be your office, the conference room or even a bathroom stall at work.

2. Sit down in an upright comfortable position. Just remember that your back needs to be straight. When your back is straight, it allows you to breathe more easily.

3. Let every part of your body relax.

4. Close your eyes and take slow deep breaths in and out through the nose. Most people don’t realize it, but they are shallow breathers. Breathing deeply will allow you to use oxygen more efficiently.

5. Now try to clear your mind of outside distractions. When you clear your mind of outside distractions you will be able to focus more easily.

6. If you are having trouble clearing your mind, you can try focusing your mind on a soothing image, such as waves gently coming on to a warm sandy beach. Another way is to see through your minds eye the path of the breath as it enters and travels through your body.

7. Now take in the details about that peaceful scene you have just created. If you were imagining the warm sandy beach, imagine the color of the water, the sound of the waves and the smell of the air.

8. Feel the warmth of the sun, the gentle breeze coming off the water and the warm sand beneath you.

9. With your eyes still closed look around your surrounding and take it all in and notice how your heart rate has lowered and your breathing is deeper and less forced.

10. Now take a deep breath and open your eyes. You should now be more focused and peaceful. If you are not quite ready to go back to work yet, repeat the steps, but this time take more time to focus. There is no time limit that you need to complete these steps in.
